Ultrasound-Estimated
Bladder Weight (UEBW - or Bladder Wall Mass):
Bladder Outlet Obstruction (BOO) is reported to be one of the most common urologic problems among elderly male patients.1 To date, invasive and time-consuming urodynamic testing has been required to achieve a precise diagnosis of BOO.2 Recent clinical studies indicate that bladder wall thickness and related bladder wall mass may correlate with BOO. Now, a new, portable, handheld ultrasound instrument that measures UEBW (ultrasound-estimated bladder weight), as well as bladder volume, is available for Urologists.
